The Role of CNAO in International Audit Arena


Since its founding, CNAO has established friendly and cooperative relations and maintained close exchanges in the audit field with more than 140 countries (by the end of 2009).

 

CNAO joined the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) in 1982 and the Asian Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ASOSAI) in 1984 respectively. In 1987, China Institute of Internal Audit joined the Institute of Internal Auditors.

 

In May 1991, CNAO successfully hosted the 5th ASOSAI Assembly and the 4th International Seminar in Beijing.

 

CNAO was the Chair of ASOSAI from 1991 to 1993 and later worked as a member of the Governing Board of ASOSAI for 6 consecutive terms.

 

During the first session of ASOSAI Working Group on Environmental Auditing (WGEA) at the 8th Assembly of ASOSAI held in October 2000 in Chiengmai, Thailand, CNAO was elected as the Chair.

 

In September 2006, China hosted the 10th ASOSAI Assembly and Auditor General of China assumed the office of Chairman of ASOSAI on behalf of CNAO until 2009.

 

In November 2007, Auditor General of China was elected as a member of the United Nations Board of Auditors with a term of 6 years.

 

In 2007, CNAO started to work as the member of the Governing Board of INTOSAI.

 

At present, CNAO is also the member of various committees and working groups under INTOSAI framework, including: Finance & Administration Committee (2007~2010), Professional Standards Committee and its Steering Committee, Working Group on Environmental Auditing and its Steering Committee, Working Group on Key National Indicators, Working Group on IT Audit, Working Group on Value and Benefits of SAIs, Task Force on the Global Financial Crisis¡ªChallenges to SAIs.

 

CNAO shall take on the Vice-Chairmanship of the INTOSAI Governing Board in 2010. In 2013, CNAO shall host the XXI INCOSAI (International Conference of Supreme Audit Institutions) and become Chair of the INTOSAI Governing Board.
