The CNAO’s Chongqing Resident Office is a CNAO’s dispatched audit office under the leadership of a Director General, and held accountable to the CNAO. Up to now, Chongqing Resident Office has 1374 auditees, ranging from financial departments, monetary institutions, fixed assets and investment units, non-profit government agencies and undertakings, enterprises, and foreign-funded projects. Under the authorization by the CNAO, the CNAO's Chongqing Resident Office shall carry out audit or audit investigation over government agencies, enterprises and non-profit public undertakings of various central departments stationed in Chongqing Municipality, others items specified by the law, as well as public finance of Chongqing Municipality in order to maintain the financial and economic order of the country; promote the building of a clean government and ensure the healthy development of the national economy. Its main responsibilities include:

-according to the audit plan set by the CNAO, to conduct supervision through auditing of budget implementation and final accounts of Chongqing Municipal government, and the management and utilization of other government funds;

-according to the audit plan set by the CNAO, to conduct supervision through auditing of revenues and expenditures of branches of the People's Bank of China, and the assets、liabilities、profits and losses of the central state-owned monetary institutions and securities companies stationed in Chongqing Municipality;

-according to the authorization by the CNAO, to conduct supervision through auditing of financial revenues and expenditures of government agencies and non-profit public undertakings of central departments stationed in Chongqing Municipality, and the assets、liabilities、profits and losses of central state-owned enterprises;

-according to the authorization by the CNAO, to conduct supervision through auditing of the budget implementation and final accounts of major central construction projects, the revenues and expenditures of foreign-funded projects stationed in Chongqing Municipality;
